The past two months have been mostly consumed with Hunter, but as you all know, life still happens! For us, we've still been doing the winter farming/ranching stuff. The tractor pictured above, we bought early this year. It's not brand new but it's in really good condition.
Patrick was hired by a neighbor to feed his 275 cows, so he does that every day. We also brought the bulls over near our house instead of where they usually go when we separate them from the cows. He feeds all 11 of them along with our neighbors 5 horses in the same pasture.
One day when I was on maternity leave, Hunter and I went with him to feed the neighbor's cows. Big mistake! I forgot how bouncy it is driving across a field of frozen cow turds! He slept right through it though.
Patrick has also been hauling grain, and attended Farm Bureau's annual Young Farmer & Rancher Conference in Virginia Beach. Winters are pretty slow for farm work, but this time of year is filled with lots of paperwork for the bank and taxes. But that's ok, cause in only a couple short months we'll be hitting the road running with farming season!
We used to off-road with our little man when he was 6 months old and he'd fall asleep every time! He still does to this day. And he can sleep just about anywhere too! It's crazy to see them sleep in some of the conditions they are in.
ReplyDeleteHunter was probably used to all the bouncing around.... you never stopped (or so it seemed) while pregnant with him... which I think is a really great thing!
ReplyDeleteHaving Hunter go with Patrick every morning is a good father/son bonding time. I see you went but i think as H gets older it would be a fun thing for him and Patrick to go and do together. Plus it gives you a little break to get ready for work.
