First, I'll explain kind of what it is. I found a really good website called Food Matters, which is where I got the best information about oil pulling. Most other stuff I read was reviews from bloggers or a website about how well it worked for them.
Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic remedy for oral health and detoxification. It involves the use of pure oils as agents for pulling harmful bacteria, fungus, and other organisms out of the mouth, teeth, gums and even throat.

The most effective oil pulling is done by placing around a tablespoon of cold pressed organic sesame oil into the mouth and swishing the oil around the mouth for approximately 10-15 minutes and then spitting it out. First, the oils mix with the saliva, turning it into a thin, white liquid. Lipids in the oils begin to pull out toxins from the saliva. As the oil is swished around the mouth, teeth, gums and tongue, the oil continues to absorb toxins, and usually ends up turning thick and viscous and white. Once the oil has reached this consistency, it is spit out before the toxins are reabsorbed.
I started with coconut oil. It was $9.99 for a large jar of it at the grocery store, which I didn't think was too bad. I started it on Friday morning, and the thing I noticed right away that day was that my breath didn't stink as bad...I had a buffalo chicken sandwich with bleu cheese and sweet potato fries for lunch, and afterwards my breath didn't smell like anything. I'm thinking after about a week I'll see an improvement in my skin and teeth whitening.
I'll definitely keep you all updated on my progress! Has anyone else heard of this or tried it? Has it worked for you?

Ugh it was so gross when i tried it. Did you melt yours first? I may have to try it that way.
