Checking Cows

When the cows start calving, we have to check them OFTEN. Like every 2 hours. We don't want them to have any trouble, cause then we lose money. And sometimes when it's getting too cold, or a mother isn't claiming her calf, we have to take them out of the field and into the barn. How does that happen, you might ask? Well here, let me show you:

See that dark lump on the ground to the left? That's a calf. It's too close to the water, so we need to move it.


So how do you do that? You just pick it up and move it!

Now while I get to ride in the nice and comfortable cab of the pickup, hubs has to hold the calf in back.


Then he tries to hold the calf while the mother follows along. They can get pretty fiesty, so he's gotta brace himself and hold on tight!


All's well that ends well. Everyone ended safe and happy in the corral.
