The Pups

My in-laws' dog Tuff is an old boy...like close to 13 years old or something. He got a lump on his gums above one of his canine teeth and had to have surgery to remove it. He also had a fatty deposit on his stomach that they removed. Here is the poor little guy:

Well yesterday, Tuff had to go back to the vet to remove the bandage and drain. Both of my in-laws went, and they brought our two dogs and their other dog. So yes, 2 people-4 dogs. They left the other three dogs in the pickup and took Tuff in to remove his bandage. The vet then told them he had worms. My MIL said, well, if he has worms, does that mean the other dogs have worms too? And the vet said...YES. MIL said she had all three dogs with them, so they brought in the troops to get weighed and their medicine taken care of.

Smoke and Sophie each weighed in at 36 lbs each. Tuff came in at 56 lbs. My baby Harley came in at a whopping 77 POUNDS!!! The vet said he needs to go on a diet :( It's really not surprising he weighs that much cause he eats A LOT. When you feed him, he acts as if he's never been fed in his LIFE. Crazy dog.

And once they checked in Harley's file, they found that he needed his Parvo and rabies vaccines updated too. Man, talk about a terrible mother! I can't even take care of my own dogs!

Smoke and Sophie took their de-worming pills just fine. They put Tuff's and Harley's in cheese to help them eat it. Tuff had no problem. Harley ate the cheese and spit the pill out. What a turd. They tried several more times, to no avail. Finally, my FIL spread butter all over the pill...worked like a charm! Harley has a history with butter-he likes to jump up on the counter, and eat a whole stick of butter if it is left laying out. At my in-laws' house, he even knows what the butter dish looks like, and will take the lid off-no joke. No wonder he weighs so much! They got the dogs all taken care of, and poor Tuff came home with the cone of shame:

  1. Poor puppy! I always feel so bad for them when they have the cone of shame!!! :o(

My dog Bonnie weighed as much as I did in high school. Poor thing - she needed a diet bad, too!!! But if we didn't feed her as much as she thought she needed, she would go around eating poop! Yuck!!!
