A year ago in October I did a post about Breast Cancer Awareness month. Since I have a lot of new followers since then, I decided to share the post again. It's that good. Both my mom and grandmother are BC survivors, and I am so proud of each of them for how strong they are.
My wonderful Auntie Mandy shared a link on Facebook the other day that was so powerful, I had to share it.
Breast Cancer is not always all about the cute pink ribbons, "Save the Ta-Ta's" T-shirts, and sometimes tasteless jokes. If you've ever been through it, seen the pain it causes, or had it affect a family member, you know that the cutsie bracelets don't even cut it.
What does cut it, however is the SCAR Project by David Jay. SCAR stands for Surviving Cancer. Absolute Reality. On his website, SCAR is explained as " a series of large-scale portraits of young breast cancer survivors shot by fashion photographer David Jay. Primarily an awareness raising campaign, The SCAR Project puts a raw, unflinching face on early onset breast cancer while paying tribute to the courage and spirit of so many brave young women."

There are tears streaming down my face. It's tough to see anyone deal with cancer, but even more when you see yourself in them - their age, etc. Those are beautiful portraits he did.
